2014 Audi A6/A7/A8/Q5 TDI
Details
Following the recent introduction of the new-for-2013 Audi Q7 TDI, Audi will expand the use of its 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 into four additional vehicle lines for the 2014 model year. Developing 240 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, Audi’s ultra-efficient oil-burning alternative incorporates state-of-the-art design technologies and delivers up to 30 percent better fuel economy and 30 percent lower CO2 emissions than a gasoline engine.
First to arrive will be the 2014 Audi A8 TDI that’s due in showrooms next spring. While EPA figures on the automaker’s flagship sedan have yet to be finalized, Audi’s preliminary estimate for this new TDI variant are 24/36 mpg city/highway ratings — figures that should put it at the head of its class. The A8 TDI will be quick as well, with its 0-60 mph sprint requiring just 6.4 seconds.
At this point, Audi is prepared to show more than tell about the remaining members of its TDI Class of 2014, which won’t go on sale until next fall. However, the Audi Q5 TDI crossover SUV and A6 TDI and A7 TDI sedans are expected to have equally stellar mileage and performance stories to tell while offering virtually all of the same amenities as their gasoline-powered kin.
