The Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia is proud to announce the results of its first ever Face-Off at the annual Philadelphia Auto Show. The automotive showdown was between two iconic brands of American muscle cars, Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. The unique competition invited local car club enthusiasts to display what they considered “their best of the best,” as well as different models of each namesake that told the story of the brand and how it evolved over the years. It was a close race but in the end, “Mustang” was declared the winner by 345 votes.

Close to 10,000 people voted in the inaugural event. Votes were cast onsite at the Philadelphia Auto Show via four computer work stations located directly outside both of the displays. Voting was open every day of the Show, which parked at the Pennsylvania Convention Center January 19 to 27.

“Since its launch in 1964, Mustang has continued to inspire and excite driving enthusiasts throughout the world. We were happy to participate in and win the first Philadelphia Auto Show Face-Off. This win along with Mustang’s loyal following affirms our mission for Mustang – to produce the best,” said Wally Hagen, Regional Marketing Manager for Ford Motor Company.

The winning clubs of Mustang enthusiasts will not only receive bragging rights, but also $2,500 to have donated in their name to a local child-related 501(c)(3) charity of their choice and $1,000 to be divided between the clubs that supported the first-place display.

“This was a new addition to our long list of show features and it was a huge hit with attendees,” said Michael Gempp, Philadelphia Auto Show Director. “Hats off to our local Mustang enthusiasts who captured the title this year. It was neck and neck for awhile but they pulled ahead in the end. I would equally like to thank our Camaro enthusiasts for making it such an exciting, tight race. Both brands have such dedicated followers and we were honored to be able to incorporate them into our 2013 show.”

“This donation was made possible thanks to the generous support of our 2012 Black Tie Tailgate attendees, sponsors and individual contributions,” said Dominic M. Conicelli, president of the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation. “We have been working with the Development staff at Children’s Hospital for 26 years and this was by far our most successful event to date. With such a renowned pediatric institution sitting in our backyard, it is our obligation to support it. We will proudly continue to do so via our 2013 Black Tie Tailgate, which will again benefit the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.”
